INSPIRE 2019 Back-To-School Decorated Cookie Collection

I know, I know……no one wants to think about summer being over and school starting back (except maybe mom! haha). But school starts in a few weeks….so it’s time to get INSPIRED. :)

It’s funny…..I homeschooled my kids. So they were never in a “real” classroom. And yet, I really LOVE doing back to school cookies.

As has become my pattern…..I don’t want to just create a bunch of random cookies. I really want each collection to convey a message. INSPIRE is this collection’s theme. It’s my desire every day to inspire others the way God has inspired me to keep at this CRAZIE hobby I have. What better purpose in life than to inspire others to greatness……

As usual, time is flying way faster than we can keep up with. And since school starts super early these days, it's time to go back to school soon. But cheer up.....there's cookies to celebrate! :)

Back To School Neon Styled Decorated Cookie Collection

Once again, this neon sign styled technique screamed to be done in back-to-school cookies. :)
I couldn't resist.

I think the effect works well since many back-to-school cookies are based on a black chalkboard. I love the simplicity of this kind... EVERY time. It's highly recommended. :)

World Globe Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

Geography.......back to school means back to studying the world.

To make this world globe cookie, use the tombstone/horseshoe cutter from
Sugarbelle's Shapeshifters set to cut out the cookies.

Outline and flood the entire cookie with white glaze. Allow it to dry overnight.

Create a thick glaze "dough" by adding approximately 1:1 ratio of powdered sugar to blue glaze. Combine until it can be molded in your hands. (see photo below)

Form a flattened yet domed piece of "dough" and lay it on parchment paper. Cut it out with a circle cutter (the size that will fit best on the main part of the tombstone/horseshoe cookie).

Use a thin spatula to carefully remove the "globe" from the parchment paper and place it on the large circular area of the cookie.

Pipe the frame around 1/2 of the globe (at an angle as shown) and then pipe the base of the holder.
(see photo above)

After the blue globe has dried for a few hours, use a map of the world to paint a rough outline of some of the continents with green glaze. 

Make a mixture of gold dust and alcohol (or clear extract, i.e. almond) and paint over the frame/base of the globe as shown above.

Old School Cookie Collection

What is it about back-to-school theme that is so very very fun?

I remember when I would go to purchase all the supplies for my kids
before we started back to homeschool each year.
It's that same kind of giddy feeling.
It must have to do with a "new beginning"......all fresh and clean.

This year seemed like a good time to take on a more vintage feel for the back-to-school cookies.
And that is how the Old School Cookie Collection was born.
