Old School Cookie Collection

What is it about back-to-school theme that is so very very fun?

I remember when I would go to purchase all the supplies for my kids
before we started back to homeschool each year.
It's that same kind of giddy feeling.
It must have to do with a "new beginning"......all fresh and clean.

This year seemed like a good time to take on a more vintage feel for the back-to-school cookies.
And that is how the Old School Cookie Collection was born.

Here's to an awesome year of learning!

Personal Side

It's been pure bliss to arrive home from the Brazil trip and settle back into my comfortable routine.
The trip was good......but I missed my alone time and glaze cookie sessions.
This week I was able to complete all my Thanksgiving cookies.
I have so many treats in store to show you this coming season......can't wait!

I know you'll be surprised (haha), but Christmas is on my list for next week.
Actually, my goal is to have all my Christmas cookies done by the end of August.
I feel like that way I can have a few weeks to prepare for my pre-CookieCon classes,
and do a bunch of cookies for various things related to CookieCon.
It is exciting times, for sure!

So I guess it's time to turn on some Christmas music to get inspired.
I LOVE Christmas, so it is not hard to move into that holiday.....even in August. :)

Happy Saturday!

May your Sunday be filled with sweetness....

My first attempt at time-lapsed video.

It's that time of year already!

Hopscotch Cookie (Tutorial)

I guess a cookie resembling concrete with "chalk markings" is not exactly attractive,
but trust me when I say.....it looks cute with all the other back-to-school cookies. :)

You'll need a long rectangle cookie for this project.
(This 2" x 4" cutter would work well.)

Outline and flood the cookie with gray glaze, and allow it to dry for about two hours.
Press the sand texture mat into the partially dried glaze to form
the random-ness of a cement sidewalk. :)

Dry overnight.

Using Americolor Bright White color gel and a paint brush,
make the outline squares and numbers of a typical hopscotch game in chalk.

A simple cookie that brings back a nostalgic memory. :)
