Merry Christmas from CookieCrazie!

Well......it is finally here.
Christmas......that beloved holiday has arrived!!

I wanted to be sure to let you know how much I appreciate your support and love.
You're presence here is such a blessing and I am extremely grateful.

I wish you and your family the most blessed Christmas of all.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.
I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:10-14

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Rectangle Buddy Cookies (Tutorial)

Last week I was trying to come up with cute ideas for Christmas cookies......
with a shape that would ship well.
It occurred to me to try to make a bunch of things on rectangle shapes......

And that is how "Rectangle Buddies" was born.

I've got Christmas Rectangle Buddies to share today
and Winter Rectangle Buddies coming up after the holidays. :)

For the Christmas versions,
I made a gingerbread man, a primitive manger scene,  and a nutcracker.

Obviously you will need rectangle cookies for all of these. ;)
I used this cutter but you could easily hand cut these with a knife.

By using actual gingerbread dough for the gingerbread men, the decorating is simple.

Make an outline of the head and body.
Add eyes (simplified by making a big white dot of glaze and adding a black pearl within)
a smile, some buttons, and a head "swirl".

For the primitive nativity, make a long rectangle body for Joseph,
a shorter rectangle body for Mary.
Add tan circles for the heads.
After these have dried for an hour or two, add a small rectangle body for baby Jesus. :)
For fun......add a "star on a stick" above Mary and Joseph.

After the manger scenes have dried overnight,
use a mixture of almond extract and gold pearl dust to paint on some shine to the star.

And finally, the nutcracker starts with making a tan square face in the middle of the rectangle.
After an hour or two (dry time to prevent bleeding),
add a black square on top and a red square on bottom.

Giving the sections at least 30 minutes to dry,
add a light-colored line across the black hat (color is not important since it will turn gold later),
some eyes with the same technique as the gingerbread men above,
and a tan nose.

Add a small red rectangle shape above the red square (over the tan) for the upper part of the mouth
and some dots in a light-colored glaze down the front of the red uniform for buttons.

After these have dried overnight,
paint the line on the hat and the buttons with the gold pearl dust + almond extract.

Add white glaze details to form eye brows, mustache, teeth, and beard.

Some fun unique cookies for Christmas!
(And they are sturdy for shipping.....)

Christ is Born! Merry Christmas to All....

As we celebrate this wonderful season of Christmas,
I wanted to make very special cookies to honor the birth of Jesus Christ.
That's really what Christmas is all about.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

Very Merry Christmas Cookies to You!

After I work at the hospital tomorrow......my family and I are headed to my in-laws for the holiday....so this is my final chance to post on the blog before Christmas.

Here's my last group of Christmas cookies....saved especially for wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

My good friend, Callye, suggested I do a button snowman......so here it is, Callye. :)

My centerpiece cookie......with a very special message.

Christmas is Upon Us.....Cookies Are Complete

I finished my final Christmas cookies for the season. Sigh.....It's was a relief. I nearly burned myself out last week......but doing these cookies made me realize that it will always be something I love to do. Especially when I can do whatever designs I want. :)

And I'm so happy with how these latest ones came out. I'd been wanting to do some special Christmas designs for weeks now.....and didn't think I'd have time. But I pushed myself on Tuesday.......and here are some of them.

I've done Christmas bulbs before.....but am always trying to improve.

Here's my heavily repeated designs this season.....with minis to accent. ;)

I wanted to do a Christmas word art cookie.....similar to the one I did for Thanksgiving. Yeah....can check that one off my list.

And one of my favorite new ones.....

I pray we keep ever before our eyes the real reason for Christmas. The greatest gift of all! Immanuel.....God WITH us.

Only a couple more days. I hope you are enjoying the time and not too stressed.

Tonight we celebrate Christmas Eve. I can already feel the anticipation in the house! Even though all my kids are grown.....everyone becomes a child at this time of year. :)
