Personal Side

This week I enjoyed getting back into my cookie groove after the cookie cruise.
There's so many new techniques and ideas I want to try.
I received some new texture mat silicone molds while I was gone and got to try them out this week.
It was SUPER fun to see the results.

I did a random gender reveal baby theme this week.
This morning I sent the "boy" cookies with my husband to work.
He asked how he should explain the cookies to his co-workers.
I instructed him to let them know they were non-specific recipient cookies. haha

Things are changing in my "real work" world......
so I'm able to devote more time to my cookie "work".
Yeah!

Next week.....I'm going to start thinking SPRING!
Since we've had almost no winter weather (other than an extreme cold spell),
I guess it is time to move on. haha
I love snow......but it seems to be evading us this year.

Spring brings on all kind of fun possibilities.
I can't wait to get crackin'. :)

Personal Side

Well last week at this time.....we were cruisin' in the Gulf of Mexico.
This week.....safe at home sweet home.

The CookieCruise 2015 was a fabulous event!
The cruise itself was loads of fun.....but getting together with 60+ cookiers was even more fun.
And decorating together was "icing on the cookie". haha

I hope to create an in depth report on the cruise in a future blog post.
But for now, you can see my photos here

I'm wading through all the stuff that builds up when you've been gone for 10 days.
But I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Next week......I can cookie again. :)

CookieCruise Fun.....
The bottom photo is a cookie collaboration with everyone on the #cookiecruise2015
who did a few cookies to make a full cookie quilt made of at least 12 "quilt blocks".
This was done in the glaze class I taught. Fun times!

Throwback Heart Cookies from a couple of years ago.....

More CookieCruise fun.
I just posted 60+ photos on my CookieCrazie FB page.

Heart Cookies with Ribbon Bows

It's fun to "dress up" cookies with some pretty ribbon.

If a heart cookie has a portion of it's inside cut out prior to baking,
it provides a perfect way to tie a ribbon around the side.

You'll need to make larger heart cookies in order to have enough space to cut out the center,
and yet keep the cookie from being too fragile with thin edges.

For most of the cookies below, I cut out a mini-heart shape on either side of the heart cookie.
But you could also cut out a larger heart right in the center.

Either of these graduated sets of heart cookie cutters are ideal for this project.
Fox Run Set of Heart Cookie Cutters - Karen's Cookies
Fat Daddio's Fluted Nylon Heart Cutter Set - Amazon

Outline and flood the heart cookies as desired.
(Be sure to outline the inside cut-out area as well, to keep the glaze from going off the edge.)
Add embellishments as desired.

Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

Using color coordinated ribbon, cut an approximate 12" length for each heart cookie.

Wrap and tie the ribbon on either side of the heart, completing it with pretty bow.

It's almost like wrapping up a beautiful present for someone. :)

Note: Be sure the recipient understands that the ribbon is not to be eaten!
