Personal Side

I'm sitting here shivering in the middle of May as it got down in the 40s this morning.
What a bunch of bizarre weather we've had in the last several months, huh?
This week's cookies reflect hot, sunny weather......so at least I can look at them and feel some warmth.

I did a fun vintage country/folk themed patriotic set this week.
Making the cookies looked "aged" is so cool......
but then I wonder if people that aren't fans of that style like eating "aged" cookies. haha
Oh well.....I give them all away....so who can complain about a gift in the form of a cookie?

Things in the Ukraine are not looking good.
My heart gets so heavy when I think about what the future could hold for them.
Please keep them in your prayers.
We still plan to go in August......but things would have to miraculously change
for that trip to take place.
So sad.......

The wedding is just TWO WEEKS away!
Next week I'm busy making 150 wedding cookies.
I'm super excited about the designs that Allison has picked.
Once the cookies are completed.......I can "semi-relax" and just enjoy the festivities.
(Spoken just like a cookier, huh?)

♥♥♥

Instagram photos for this week:

Happy Friday!

Remembering the effect of pearl luster dust on the blueberry cookies made.....
I tried it on the bottom ⅔ of the sunglasses lens.
I like it!
(It doesn't always work out the way you think it will, but it's worth a try, right?)

Happy Monday!
Here's some summer yummy-ness created last week. Mmmmm......

A Monday happy......quilting-effect proved successful.
Oh, the things that thrill us CRAZIE cookie people.

It's a red, white and blue kind of day. :)

The birds are chirping happily outside this morning.
It's going to be a great Wednesday.
I wish that for you as well!

Yeah! Got the photo shoot done before the rainstorm.
Perfect lighting with overcast skies.

Wedding Shower Flower Cookies (Tutorial)

Allison's wedding shower invitation had some cute simple flowers on it.
I attempted to re-create them to pair up with the mason jar cookies.

Simple circle cookies will do nicely for the shape.
(wow.....no special cutter!)

Outline & Flood the cookie in your color-of-choice 10-second glaze.
Make a squiggly line around the edge to give it a flower look.

Let the glaze set for about 30 minutes and then add the first layer of petals (outside layer).
(See photo below)
Once that has dried for about 30 minutes, add the middle layer.
Dry for another 30 minutes and add the inside layer.
Add a dot of glaze in the center and place a few sugar pearls atop it.

Dry overnight.
If desired, brush on some pearl sheen airbrush color.

Wedding Shower Mason Jar Cookies (Tutorial)

My daughter just had her first bridal shower at the end of March.
Guess who made cookies for the event?
Yep.....yours truly. ;)

Using the shower invitation and theme......the first cookie created was a mason jar.
What a popular cookie shape?!
When I first posted a photo on Instagram.....people went crazy.
Who would have thought?

There are a number of sites that offer a mason jar cutter.
I have searched and searched for where I might have purchased this tall thin version.
And sadly......I can't find the online store. :(
(I guess that's pretty bad when you can't remember where you bought something!)
But have no fear......you can obtain a mason jar cutter from almost every cookie cutter store. :)

Outline and flood the jar in your choice of 10-second glaze color.

After approximately 2 hours, make some jar top creases with a cake tester across the crusted glaze.

Accent lines are up to the decorator's discretion.....but I used the graphic from the shower invitation.

Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

To give it a glassy finish, paint pearl sheen airbrush color over the top of the jars.

The companion shower cookies will be coming up soon.....
