Great Shot! Camera Cookies

A random turn in the road......

I've got a much shorter list of Valentines cookies to show you......so I thought I'd take a left turn and share some camera cookies I did several weeks ago.

You might remember that the big 3000 FB fan giveaway in December included a set of camera cookie cutters.

These cutters come from the DIY Photography store.....and were donated for the give-away.
The company also sent a set to me to try out.....so here I go. :)

These cutters not only include the outside edge cutter for the three different camera shapes.....
but also a piece you can lay on the top of the dough to imprint the cookies.

It's a cute idea.....and works well if you are not going to add icing on the top of the cookie.

But for our purposes....the only reason I used the imprinting pieces was to help me put the lens and other details  in the right positions.

I cut out some extra round cookies for the lenses on each different camera model......
to give them more of a 3D look.

Once I covered everything in black......I added lots of details.

It was a fun set....and I'm thankful for the cutters to allow me to try them out.

I've done several camera cookies in the past.......

The first time I attempted them.....back in 2009....I "accidentally" made some pretty authentic looking Nikons for my brother-in-law....and even scored a fairly decent photo of them.
(Trust me.....back then it was a pure blessing.....not skill on my part!)

Read about how this photo was on the front page of Flickr's Explore HERE.
And go back into the "olden days" and see the blog post on these cameras HERE ha ha.

My son has a Canon.....not a Nikon like the above cookies.....so I had to make him a camera cookie for his birthday that year.

So as you can see.....camera cookies are nothing new.

At least this time I didn't have to hand cut them this go around. ;)
