Red & Green Homespun Christmas Cookie Collection

Another fun set of Christmas cookies.....this time in a folksy, homespun kind-of-feel.
It is super cool to take the designs and styles you love and put them into cookie form.

Christmas is such a delightful time of year.

I hope you are making wonderful memories with family and friends.

Personal Side

Can you believe Christmas is just TWO WEEKS from today?!
I'm so grateful I've been able to do lots ahead this year.....
that certainly takes some of the stress out of this busy busy time of year.

This weekend is my last weekend to work at the hospital lab.
I've decided to push away from that job in order to free up Sundays and holidays.
Health care occupations certainly include the worst work hours of the week.
Since I've been doing it on and off for almost 30 years....
I think it's time for a change.
I guess I will have even more time to devote to family and cookies.
Who knows what God has in store in the coming days?!

There's a new social media (very similar to FB) that cookie decorators have migrated to......
so just in case you'd like to try it out, here's my TSU page.
If you need an invitation, use my short code "cookiecrazie".
Hope to see you there!
Maybe we will all actually get to SEE each other's pages that we've liked. ;)

I've been made fun of for the kind of cookies I'm working on right now.....
so I'll refrain from divulging my obsessive "staying ahead" tendencies. haha
Have no fear that you will see these cookies in the coming weeks.....

Christmas Scrapbook Layer Cookies (Tutorial)

There's something about the "scrapbook layering" look that appeals to me!
Once I saw a photo of scrapbook letters that had a kraft brown background and patterned fabric on top, I was determined to make something similar on a cookie.

This alphabet cutter set is one of my favorites!

And I used one of my first CookieCrazie Custom Cutters....
the homespun Christmas tree since it went so well with this scrapbook look.

Outline and flood the cookies with tan glaze.
Allow them to dry for several hours so they are no longer tacky on top.

Carefully brush some warm brown airbrush color over the partially-dried tan glaze.

Allow the cookies to dry for about thirty minutes and then create a colorful pattern on each one.
Make sure to leave an outer edge when filling in the "fabric" pattern so that the tan shows through.
