Personal Side

Another crazie week......but an awesome week. :)
I buzzed right through the honey bee cookies.....and had a blast.

The veggie tray cookies were a huge hit at the open house last Friday.
All the cookies were eaten by the end of the event.
I'm so glad everyone enjoyed them.
And we had a great open house to celebrate the practice.

I'm going to work on cherry cookies this weekend......joy!
I've never done a specific cherry theme and I'm looking forward to it.

This is a busy time of year.....a bunch of things are coming up in our family.
Probably the biggest is my husband's 60th birthday!
(P.S. I was a child bride.....haha)
The kids and I are planning a small celebration for him.
It should be fun.

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful spring and all it has to offer.
I'm lovin' the sunshine AND the rain.....and enjoying all the blessings God has given me.

Instagram photos for this week:

Happy Friday!

I'm taking this gluten and grain-free cookie "veggie tray" to a wellness center open house today.
Hopefully it won't be offensive to offer cookies to the patients. ;)

I've got Mom in mind this week....

Whipped up some cookies for a friend's birthday yesterday.....a nice surprise.
I love to give gifts to others.

Have a H-A-P-P-Y day!

Sunday BBQ?

Things have been buzzin' around here.....

Time for tea?

Oh the pinkness....

I can't get a picnic out of my mind....

Spring woodland cookies from last year..... #tbt #throwback

First time using my brand new beautiful CookieBoard

Broadcast Newsroom Decorated Cookie Collection

I had a lot of fun make Newsroom-themed cookies for my son's coworkers.

Decorating lots of silhouettes was a huge time (and stress!) saver.

The newsroom was a BUZZ when the cookies arrived. :)

Silhouette Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

My son works at a TV news station and I decided it would be fun to
make his coworkers some cookies.
Since most of the images that came to mind were pretty complicated,
I opted to go with doing mostly silhouette cookies.
They are fairly easy......and depending on which shapes you choose, they can be very recognizable.

The first suggestion would be to do an internet search on the topic you are about to "cookie".
Find fairly simple shapes that recipients will recognize.
Print out the images in black and white.

Before I had a KopyKake, I would freehand these images.
But now that I have a projector, it is easy to pop the graphics into the housing unit
and project the images onto the cookie.
I know there are better options now for projecting images onto the cookie.
KopyKake is HUGE, it takes up lots of room, and is pretty expensive,
so the other options might be more viable.

I chose to outline and flood these cookies with a white glaze base.
I let them dry for a few hours before I added the silhouettes.

When you are doing silhouettes, you'll need a nice crisp outline and then just fill it in.
Easy peasy...... love it!

Of course, adding additional extra details is always an option.....and
often makes the image more recognizable.

The nice thing about silhouettes is that you can do it all in ONE color glaze. :)
