Birthday with SHINE Decorated Cookie Collection

I love to fit an updated birthday cookie set in between all the seasonal cookies.....just to try out new cutters, techniques and products for one of the most common cookie needs around.....BIRTHDAY!

For this set, I chose to feature silver with pretty blues and a touch of peach.

Hopefully this set finds one of you with a birthday close by so you feel the birthday love and enjoy the sentiment. I wish I could send your the cookies through the computer/phone screen. :)

Crocheted Baby Cookies (Tutorial)

When thinking about what textures to do for baby cookies......
it seemed natural to lean toward a crocheted and/or knitted look.

SillisShop in Etsy has some perfect molds to accomplish crocheted/knitted texture.

Outline and flood any shape you'd like in the colors of choice.

Allow the glaze to dry for about 4 hours.

Press the texture mats into the partially dried glaze.

Quick, easy......and so pretty!

Baby Gender Reveal Boy Cookie Collection

Awwww......in the process of making a whole set of gender reveal baby cookies......
I made a full set of boy cookies and a full set of girl cookies.

Those cute little baby boys.
Snips and snails and puppy-dogs' tails.....

So fun!

Stay tuned for the knitted/crochet-look tutorial.

Baby Gender Reveal Heart Cookies (Tutorial)

While going through my 2014 cookies prior to New Years Day,
I was stunned to realize that I had not done any baby cookies last year!

So this current baby gender reveal cookie set was born (haha) out of a desire to make some
"cutting edge" baby cookies for 2015. ;)

Gender reveal parties are the rage these days.
In fact, when I did a search for gender reveal ideas, there was an astonishing number of results.

Putting pink or blue-colored dough inside a cookie is certainly not my original idea.
I've seen many cookie decorators use this technique.
But I hope to put a CookieCrazie twist on gender reveal cookie ideas......

Before baking the cookies, add some blue or pink food color gel to a small amount of dough.
Knead well to distribute color evenly.

Roll the plain dough thinner than usual (since you will be doubling up two cut-outs).
Place a small ball of colored dough in the center of a heart cut-out.
Cover the entire cookie with another heart cut-out.
Gently press the sides together to seal the colored ball within.
(see photo below)

Here are the plain baked cookies with hidden surprise.
Normally un-lumpy cookies are undesireable.....but in this case, the "pregnant cookie" works well. ;)

Outline and flood cookies like normal and decorate as desired.

The cute little envelope cookie seen below was created with this cutter.
