Personal Side


It's been a super good week.
So many fun things have happened in my cookie world.
I was able to do a live chat on Cookie Connection about glaze and edible clay.
I met a sweet friend who sells decorating supplies and she is a GEM!
I was able to complete a super fun set of cookies using Rolkem Gold for the first time. (Love it!) 
I'm in the process of setting up some upcoming cookies classes.
God is good!

Can you believe that November starts on Sunday?! 
It is astounding how quickly time flies by......
I'm so grateful for each day....and the opportunity to bring glory to God.

Thanks for sticking with me and being such awesome cookie friends.
Your encouragement and support means a tremendous amount to me!

Yeah...... "Vellum" on a tag cookie.
Oh, the possibilities!




Well......It's certainly not perfect, but here's a quick video
showing how I add texture to partially dried glaze.
As you can see.....there is definitely room for improvement (it's not fool proof).
I should have waited out the glaze for at least another 30 minutes to an hour.
But the texture effect is so dramatic,
that it is worth the wait.
(P.S. Those botched spots will just have to have a little embellishment added to them to cover it up.)

Autumn Textured Cookie Collage






Each time a theme pops in my head, I always want to include a cookie collage in the repertoire.
This autumn one doesn't really involve mixed media as some have,
but it has plenty of "mixed" textures. :)

This was my first chance to try out the new embossing folders.
And after this project, I'm hooked on them.


Fall Leaf Embossing Folder



Each piece was done in a different color and a different texture.
Some had colored glaze, some just had dust applied to beige glaze to give it additional color.
These is a myriad of things that can be done for this kind of project.
A new happy obsession......

Personal Side


I've been busy this week creating more and more and more new cookie designs for winter.
This week is was one of my favorite subjects, SNOWMEN. 
The fun never ends. :)

I had the privilege of sharing my extra CookieCon book with the winner of the giveaway, 
Misti Ring of RoyalR Confections.
Congratulations Misti! 

I wish I could send all of you that were unable to attend CookieCon a copy of the book..... : /
Hopefully, you're able to see enough pages from the book (with the artists sharing) 
that you get a good idea of what it is like.
I hope your autumn is going well and you are enjoying the season as much as I am.

Autumn Texture Mat Cookies (Tutorial)






I am always looking for new ways to add texture to glaze icing.
These scrap-book embossing folders turned out to be a treasure trove!




They work really well on partially dried glaze.
I've already ordered many more....... :)



Outline and flood the cookies with glaze.



Allow the glaze to dry for at least 4 hours.
Press the open embossing folder into the cookie (impression side down).


Some may stick to the folder, but in my book, imperfections are just fine.
(Nobody is really perfect anyway......even if it appears that way.)



Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

Apply some dry dust over the surfaces to accentuate the texture.
If desired, mix dust with clear extract (ex: almond) or vodka & apply it wet for a different effect.
(Below the gold was applied wet and the chocolate was applied dry.)
