CookieCrazie's Week in Review

_________________________________________________

Personal Side
I'm surviving my "full time job" so far. I've worked three days this week....and only have two left.
Wow.....I have a healthy appreciation for all of you working moms out there.....it's tough!

No cookies this week. :(
BUT.....I was able to take last week's cookies in to share with my coworkers on Monday....
and it brought lots and lots of smiles.
That's the best!

I just found out about Operation Cookie Takeover.
It is a wonderful effort to send lots and lots of cookies to our troops in Afghanistan.
Hopefully next week I can plan the cookies and then get them
made & shipped the following week.
The deadline to ship is March 22.....so there's only a window of time.
Maybe some of you can help too.

I've been busy editing tons of cookie photos....so I have lots to share in the coming weeks.
Just gotta get one more week of work done.
What a pleasant relief it will be. :)

Instagram photos for this week:

Spring patchwork....

Random spring cookies.....

Little lambkin cookies.....

I love to do patterns. :)

Part of my Fabric & Buttons Collection....

I'm excited! Today I made a grain free, low carb, sugar free Brownie Cheesecake!
I'm a happy camper. Something indulgent for a change.....
Here's the recipe for Brownie Cheesecake.

I'm so behind with photo editing......
I'm determined to get caught up by this weekend.
This is my mindless task to do when I finally get off work each day
(after a super mind stretching day of learning new software in the lab).
Thankfully I can listen to loud uplifting music while I do it.  :)

Heehee.... I love these lambs. :)

CookieCrazie's Week in Review

Personal Side
Can you believe it is March 1. Wow......

I've been diligently preparing to be come a "full time" employee starting next week.
The hospital lab is undergoing a major software change,
and I'll be working lots these next two weeks.

Thankfully I got some cookies decorated this week.
They'll be no time or energy to get back to it for a few weeks.....
I had a blow out day on Tuesday......just couldn't decorate much of anything.
Lots of dear friends in the cookie world encouraged and loved on me.
And the next day.....things were much better. :)

I'm hoping to keep things running fairly normal here on the blog.....
but if you don't hear from me as often, it is because I'm just too whipped by my job.

We're gearing up for the Ukraine trip in June.
This week we gathered most of the supplies we'll need for the ministries.
We plan to ship them soon.....since it takes almost 2 months for a package to arrive there.
It will be so nice to ship almost all of it so that we don't have to stuff our suitcases to the brim.

I leave for my trip at the beginning of June.....so it is only three months away.
Oh my......that's scary. haha

Instagram photos for this week:

More birthday sweetness.....

The snow outside makes for great lighting possibilities inside. :)
Birthday calendar cookies....

Pandas!! :)
Birthday balloons.....

Birthday cupcakes.....

:( It's one of THOSE days. I just don't have it in me to pipe anymore.
I'm hoping the dreary rainy day is the culprit.
The glaze colors are not what I'd hoped and I just lost all the desire in just six cookies......
They'll have to wait until tomorrow.
Hopefully it will be a better day.
(Please tell me you have days like this!)

I needed a smile this morning. How about you? :)

Already a much better decorating day. Thanks everyone for all your encouragement. :) ❤

 Easter minis.....nice and simple :)

Build a 3D Beehive Cookie (Tutorial)

You'll need:

  • Yellow Colored-Dough Circle Cookies (see below)
  • Black Colored-Dough Oval Cookie (see below) or
  • Black 10-Second Glaze
  • 10 Second Glaze (for "glue")

A bee hive 3D cookie is quite simple to make.
The hardest part is coloring the dough. ;)

Color dough a bright yellow or gold color.
For suggestions on coloring dough, visit this blog post.
For the hive opening, you can make a black cut-off oval cookie or use black glaze, your choice.

Once your dough is colored, cut out graduated circle cookies.
The number you will need depends on how large/tall you want your hive.
I used nine circles for the large hive and used this set of circle cutters (fluted side).

Line up the cookies in the order you're going to stack them.
And then start "glueing" them with your glaze.

Add glaze to the back of the "black hole" cookie and "glue" to the side of the hive.
I used a ribbon to secure the cookie until it dried.

A smaller hive is even easier.
Here's a four circle hive.....quick and easy.

I added black glaze to make the opening of the hive.

Super cute and super easy.
Time saved can be spent decorating the bumble bees. :)

Bumble Bee Cookies (Tutorial)

You'll need:

**Bee cutters used: small bee, medium bee large bee

Outline & flood the body and head of the bees.
Allow this to dry for a few hours before adding the black stripes (to avoid bleeding).

While waiting for the yellow glaze to dry,
you can add dotted lines for the wings with black glaze using a 1.5 PME tip.

Once the yellow has dried for a few hours, outline and flood the black stripes on the body.
Also add details like antennae, eyes and stinger.

Dry overnight.

Brush Americolor Bright White gel (diluted with almond extract)
within the winged areas using a brush.
