A good friend had his 50th birthday this year.
I wanted to make him some special cookies just because I understand.
I’m turning 60 in December……so I can relate to
the idea of a milestone birthday during this time of social distancing, etc.

Another year…..another load of blessings…..
and the promise that God will sustain us even in our “old age”.

Emmaline is my second grandchild and first granddaughter.
Her 3rd birthday snuck right up on us after the whole pandemic thing whisked two months by.

My son informed me that he and his family would be coming this weekend to celebrate Emmaline’s birthday…..and so I dropped all my other projects and made these cookies
for my book-loving sweetheart.

Once again….my greatest joy is making cookies to celebrate my loves.
I am so happy that I can express my love in this way.

These two sweeties had fun playing together on Emmaline’s birthday celebration day. Finn was helping her walk down the hill in our backyard. :)

This is the teepee that Grandpa and Grammy (that’s me!) gave her for her 3rd birthday. As you can see, she loves it and it will definitely make a great booknook for her. :)

During the stay-at-home orders, my son got us set up so I could read to Emmaline via video chat. So sweet to see her sitting there in front of the screen so attentive listening to her Grammy read. :) She is one book lovin’ girl! 💗

Finn's 3rd Birthday Monster Truck/Race Car Decorated Cookie Collection

Finn’s third birthday happened right when I was having my second cancer surgery to remove malignant lymph nodes. I only had a few days notice about the surgery, but thankfully I had planned the theme and shapes ahead of time. Just a few days before surgery, I managed to make him his “dream birthday cookies”. The boy LOVES monster trucks, race cars, and anything that GOES.

Finnegan Asher was born three years ago! He was a preemie and his birth day was a bit traumatic…..especially for his momma (my daughter). But healing occurred and God blessed them all. I’m so thankful for my family. :)

Decorating these cookies was pure JOY…..and a great distraction from the procedure I was anticipating just a few days later. And seeing that HUGE smile on his face was worth it all.

Isn’t it awesome to create special things for our loves? ❤️

I missed Finn’s birthday party, but he came over the day after surgery (his actual birthday) and enjoyed a cookie and Grammy’s gift to him. :) He was so excited to take home the cookies for his party a few days later.

I love to squeeze a birthday set amongst all the season cookies sets made throughout the year.

This one is named “Happy Day” because my sweet granddaughter, Emmy, said this very phrase at the end of the day on her first birthday. It almost made me want to cry to hear her say those words. I’m not sure she understood what she was saying…..but it truly was a HAPPY day. :)

Be sure to treasure each one. I’ve learned that each moment is a gift. There are no guarantees of tomorrow. Make today ALL that it can be. It may not always be happy, but it can be meaningful in every way. :)

It’s hard to believe…..but my first grandchild is turning two years old! Wow. When you think time flies by……you realize that you’ve underestimated it in a big way. I’ve also heard that time moves faster the older you get. Oh boy….

Finnegan Asher was born two years ago in November 2016. He was 6 weeks premature and in the NICU for 9 days. But he was strong and healthy….and came home to outgrow any time he might have been “behind”.

Now he is an active curious boy…..that doesn’t leave anything unturned. haha He is busy busy busy…..and so fun to watch.

Finn’s favorite thing right now is CARS! He loves them…..all kinds….actually anything with wheels. So it seemed perfect to get out this set of cutters and wheels to make a bunch of his favorites.
