Indian Corn Cookies (Tutorial)

To make Indian Corn cookies you will need

Take the "spooky ghost" cookie cutter and reshaped it into Indian corn. :)

On parchment paper, use a #4 tip and make glaze icing "corn kernels".
Use the heat gun technique to prevent each kernel from caving in the center.
Don't hold the gun over the kernels too long.....or they will be splotchy the next day.
Mine ended up splotchy.....but I decided that corn kernels look excellent when splotchy. ;)
Allow the kernels to dry for several hours....preferably overnight.

Outline & flood the corn kernel part of the Indian corn with gold glaze.
Add the dried "kernels in rows on top of the wet gold glaze.

After the gold glaze has dried for an hour or so.....
outline & flood the husk part of the Indian corn with ivory glaze.

Wait another hour and then
use the boo boo stick to add character lines to the husks.

Dry the cookies overnight and then
paint the husks with a mixture of Americolor gels (gold, ivory, tiny amount of brown)
and almond extract to thin it a bit.
I also found the sheen airbrush colors gave my fall cookies an extra pizazz.
I especially liked the bronze, copper, & gold colors.

CookieCrazie's Week in Review

Personal Side

Wow......I complained about how busy last week was.
This week was no different.
I had a list of things to achieve......
and as is often the case, it was an unreasonable list. lol
But I'm chuggin' away and getting it done.
Today will determine the extent of my success.

Cookies......lots and lots of cookies.
I've got several surprises for you in the next few weeks.
And I'm trying to prep for those surprises......
plus get ready for CookieCon.

My daughter was trying to casually talk with me last night.....
and said, "Mom, you're not listening to me".
She was right. I have so much on my mind that I zoned her out.

After I work tomorrow......
I'll be in Operation CookieCon PACKING mode. Yeah! I love that part. :)
And then early Wednesday morning, I fly to Salt Lake City and
begin an exciting adventure in the cookie world.

I plan to share as much as I can via Instagram and Facebook.....
so you can catch "up to the minute" coverage (HAHA!) there.

My Instagram name is: cookiecrazie.

My FB page is: https://www.facebook.com/CookieCrazie

I'm not sure I'll be able to do a "CCChatter" post next week.
But I promise to give you a full report when I return....

Instagram photos for this week:

Not the best pics..... But here's my two fave dresses while shopping for mother-of-groom dress.
I bought them both (great prices). :)
The one on the right doesn't look very flattering......
but the photo is horrible and I really liked the way it looked enough to buy it.
I think I've decided to wear the one on the left for the wedding.....for sure. :)

Baby Girl's First Birthday....Great idea from SweetSugarBelle
 I know.....I know......déjà vu from last week. Come on..... It's FALL! :)

Hard at work for CookieCon!!! I can't believe it starts next week. :)

Last week's chatter....

Harvest Scarecrow Cookies......In Abundance :)

They're not very scary......but they're fun. :)

"Handy" Scarecrow Cookies (Tutorial)

To make these scarecrow cookies you will need:

 Before baking the cookies,
you can change the position/shape of the scarecrow's hat
and straw coming from his neck, if you wish.
Outline and flood the hat on top.....adding any design or pattern you wish.
Outline and flood the "straw" (fingers) with the light tan glaze.

Allow to dry for about an hour.
Then outline and flood the face with ivory glaze.
Start adding texture to the "straw" under the scarecrow's face.

After the texture has dried for 10-15 minutes,
keep adding various lines to the straw (tan, gold, brown).

Allow the ivory (face) glaze to dry for at least 30 minutes
before adding straw around the face.
Allow the cookies to dry overnight.
Using a paint brush, add pink petal dust to give the scarecrow rosy cheeks.
Then using a very small round paintbrush,
add thinned Americolor gels to make the scarecrow's face.
You can also use food color markers for adding details.

Photography Cookies

A fun set I did for my brother-in-law who is a professional photographer.
I told him that I knew that film strips and rolls don't belong in today's
photography world........but that I knew he would remember them well. :)

CookieCrazie's Week in Review

Personal Side

Phew......what a week!
I've put myself on a strict schedule.
I really don't like coming back from trips feeling behind.
So I decided to get as ahead as I could with cookies
so when I return from CookieCon in a few weeks,
I will not feel as stressed.
(Not to mention that I'll have Thanksgiving, Christmas & a wedding
to prepare for in those coming weeks! haha)

So.....this week I got lots of fall/Thanksgiving cookies done.
It felt good.

Now I have a mountain of photos to edit.
But more importantly, I need to finalize my CookieCon presentations. ;)
And I'm supposed to get a wedding invitation guest list to
my soon-to-be daughter-in-law as soon as I can.
You know the drill.

Two weeks until CookieCon.
I'm very excited!!
I'll do my best to send lots of updates while there via FB and Instagram
to those of you who can't attend.

My Instagram name is: cookiecrazie.

Here's my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/CookieCrazie

Today I'm headed out to look for a
Mother of the Groom dress for the wedding.
Oh boy.....this is new for me.
At least I'm at my lowest weight in 35 years. :)

Instagram photos for this week:

Back to the right season again. ;)

Look! Fall Candy Buttons.

Don't you wish you could capture that shine and hold it on the cookie when it's dry???
I'll work on it.... ;)

It was a good cookie day..... Like those kind. :)

I found a good use for my Americolor Sheen airbrush colors.

Bronze & Copper sheen are perfect for fall leaves. :)
(My airbrush is broken.....sniff sniff)

Ummmmm.....it was a good idea, but I don't think my Indian headband
is going to handle gravity too well. :(
At least the rest of my Thanksgiving cookies are working as planned.

Tornado Warning..... Yikes!
(No damage.....things settled down right after that.)

So which is your favorite.....apple, cherry, or blueberry? Yum!!! :)

Happy fall photo shoot. :)

Last week's chatter....
