Birthday Cookie Surprise

A surprise birthday collection for a dear cookie friend. :)

What fun it is to make a special set of cookies for a friend......
especially a cookie friend who rarely gets cookies from someone else. :)

CookieCrazie's Week in Review

______________________________________________________

Personal Side

It's been a crazy week. I'm now "on location" in Florida and gearing up for a fun filled weekend with my sister, bro-in-law, niece, nephew, and one brief morning with my dear son, Keith. Yeah!

Instagram photos for this week:

Do you feel like you're there? That's the goal! (Pun intended. :))

All wrapped up and ready to take a trip. Can't wait to show you all the boxed sets I did this week....

Lovin' the chilly mornings!

OK Fall....I'm ready for ya!

Can you tell I love to come out to the porch and sit when it is pouring rain....and just enjoy. :)

I have good company now that the fall decorations are out.

Airport waiting.....always interesting. At least security was easy breezy.....except when she needed to check what all the boxes were in my bag.......COOKIES!

I'm not in Missouri any more. :)

Spent Thursday helping my sister at her job. She teaches 4 year olds in the Head Start program. Woah......16-4 year olds (some with special needs, etc) was quite challenging.
Now we can start playing tomorrow. Disney here we come!

3D Pumpkin Cookie (Tutorial)

To make a 3D pumpkin you'll need:

Cut out the following:
Two 3" Pumpkins
Three 3-3/4" Pumpkins
Two 4-1/2" Pumpkins
Three 1" (or 1-1/2") Circles

Be sure to cut off the stems of the pumpkin-shaped cookies before baking.

"Glue" the three circles  together with brown glaze.

Outline the top cookie with brown glaze and then flood all the sides of the "stem".
After 15-20 min, go back and flood the top of the stem.
Allow it to dry overnight.

Before "gluing" the pumpkin together, stack it up the way it fits best together.
Then unstack it in order so you can easily build it back
once you've added the orange glaze "glue".

To start the decorating, turn your "pumpkin" upside down.
Outline the rim  with orange glaze and then cover what will be the bottom-most cookies with glaze.

Allow this to dry for a few hours before turning it back upright.

Outline the pumpkin in segments as shown.
Allow outlines to dry for at least 30 minutes before beginning to fill them in.

Flood every other segment with orange glaze.

Allow segments to dry for 30+ minutes before filling in the rest of the segments.
(Forgive me for failing to photograph the pumpkin with all the segments filled. ;))

Dry the pumpkin overnight.
Use Americolor gels ( Brown, Gold, Orange, White) to
create some colors to shade the pumpkin and stem.
(Use the almond extract to thin the gels.)

The "paint" will make the pumpkin tacky for a while, so I let mine dry over another night.

Pumpkin Cookies......They're all the Rage!

SweetSugarBelle challenged several of us to see how uniquely we could use a pumpkin-shaped cookie.

I wanted to do something dimensional (surprise, surprise)
so I chose to stack a pile of pumpkin-shaped cookies together to make a 3D pumpkin.

Look what everyone else came up with!

CookieCrazie's Week in Review

Random Cookie Shapes

______________________________________________________

Personal Side
Another week.....and it has been a busy one.
I am SO THANKFUL I've felt better this week.
I'm still not over this stupid cough and congestion,
but at least I don't feel rotten along with it.
Warning......coughing attacks can happen at any random time. heehee

I'm going to visit my sister next week......
so most of the cookies I made this week were made to surprise her family. :)
I LOVE to give gifts.....so this will be so fun.

Unfortunately......I took on more than I should have.
I have a CHRONIC problem.
I always want to do things bigger and better than last time.

And THEN I decide to do too many different designs at one time. :0)
This time it was 4 collections with 20 different cookies.
Am I CRAZIE?
Absolutely no doubt at all. hee hee

Well.....the good news is.....I got them done!
I even got the photos done this afternoon.
And boy, am I beat!

But it's worth it.
Next week I'll get to see those faces of cookie joy......
TOTALLY worth it. :)

Instagram photos for this week:

I've done them before..... I'll do them again. I like 'em. :)

Allison's birthday lunch....she and Jill got strawberry lemonade and cherry limeade. :)
I love these girls.......LOTS!

My "planning list" for the week.
Since I was doing boxed sets, this is how I did my planning. ;)

An opened sunroof kind-of-day. ♥

Do you ever feel like you've bitten off more than you can chew?
Ummmm...that was me on Wednesday. : /

Day 1 of decorating complete. Had to just take one step at a time.
(All I can think of is Dory in Finding Nemo saying,
"Just keep swimming......just keep swimming.....
just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. lol)

Betcha you've never seen a pumpkin "patch" quite like this one, have ya? ;)

Day 2 of decorating.....an intense LONG Thursday......but they are done.
YEAH! I can breathe again. lol

Out shopping on Friday......Jackpot!
So many cookie cutters I'd never seen before (and I thought I'd seen most, haha).

 Basket of pumpkins.....
