CookieCrazie's Week in Review

Personal Side

It's so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is now past.
But oh what a wonderful holiday we had!!

We are just starting to build our own immediate family traditions.....
so they are still not set in stone.
But since our family starts growing in a few weeks to add Becca,
Neil's fiance, we figure it is time to settle into some tradition. :)

We decorated the 12' Christmas tree on Wednesday night after having a yummy dinner together.
There was lots of laughing and joking around.
We were even able to skype Keith into the great room......
so the whole family was together for that evening.
I made monster cookies (a long time fave Christmas cookie of the family's)
and wished I could share them through the phone to Keith.
He's one of my biggest cookie lovers.
But at least he got to feel close to home in his lonely college dorm.

Yesterday (Thanksgiving Day) morning we had brunch.
I know that is kind of weird.....but it was my solution to allowing everyone
to go to other Thanksgiving celebrations with their special someones.
It was fun.....but too short.

Neil left last night to return things were a little sad for me.
I love the coming together, but when we all go back to our own little worlds......
it is a bit depressing.

Today I'll be making lots of fun plans for Christmas cookies.
I get to make Christmas cookies the next two weeks......
and then I have to start working on wedding cookies.
December is going to be a very FULL month.

I'm thankful.....

Instagram photos for this week:

Fresh cut trees.....

Faces of Christmas peeking into Thanksgiving week.....waiting patiently to make their appearance. :)

News flash......Allison is actually eating one of my cookies today. This is a very rare thing. Generally she doesn't like them. I told her I had to take her photo and post it..... This was her cost for one cookie. ;)

Thanksgiving brunch with cookies......of course! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. :)

Happy Thanksgiving Pam! It looks like you had a very busy week and I'm so glad to hear thatt you had time with the family and you were able to include using Skype so everyone was involved. My son, Nick, came home from his first year at college to be with us at Thanksgiving, but it's such a short trip and so expensive, so we're sure that the next 3 years he will stay with his friends at the dorm during Thanksgiving. It's always nice to have everyone together though!

Pam, So glad you had a wonderful holiday time with your family! Friends who have kids with spouses/significant others tell me about fitting everyone and their schedules in, and I think you therefore did the most selfless thing, to make it a brunch, so your kids don't have to feel torn between families. Kudos to you, Pam! And isn't it weird and bittersweet how seeing and sharing time with them makes you miss them more? I empathize, for sure! My son is home for the weekend, and it is wonderful. And it will be sad to see him leave. Hugs to you, girlfriend!

Cristin.....we certainly share the same time in life right now, don't we? I don't like the idea of our boys staying in the dorm for Thanksgiving.....but sometimes things just have to be. Hopefully you can Skype, etc to stay close with your son as well. Thankfully Keith is coming home for Christmas (and the WEDDING!). We just booked his flight Friday. So it is nice to have that to look forward too. Blessings to you and your family, dear Cristin. :)

Nancy......yes, it was a sacrifice, but I felt it was worth it. And actually.....I got to spend more time with them since we did Wednesday AND Thursday morning. haha For Christmas......I'm already planning that we will get together for the Saturday before Christmas and spend the whole day together. That way they will be free to do their own things and extended family things around the holiday. Since I have worked MANY CHristmases because I am in health care.....I've learned that the actual date is not is GETTING TO BE TOGETHER that matters the most. :) ♥
