I'm honored to be a part of a virtual cookie party
"Let's Smell the Flowers".
My flower cookie is the Cherry Blossom.
My friend just came back from Washington, DC
and said the cherry trees were blooming there.
I can only imagine the sight of seeing
those lines of trees all bursting forth with
white and pink blossoms.
Makes me smile. :)
To make Cherry Blossom cookies, you will need:
- Round cookies
- Pale Pink 10-second glaze
- Light Pink 10-second glaze
- Light Gold 10-second glaze
- Toothpicks
- Americolor Bright White
- Americolor Deep Pink
- Paintbrush
Outline three of the five petals. Dry for 20-30 minutes.
Notice I made a boo boo.
I forgot it was only five petals instead of six.
So I removed the third petal
and repositioned it. :)
Add the outer petal outlines
and allow to dry.
Flood the outer petals first,
using as little glaze as possible.
Then when you add the inner petal flood,
you can add more and give
the flower more dimension.
See how the inner petals look "puffier"
when I flooded with extra glaze?
Allow flower to dry for a couple of hours.
Add a circle of light pink glaze.
It does not need to be neat and tidy.
Take a toothpick and pull the icing
both to the center and outside of flower.
Allow to dry for 30 minutes or more.
Add the stamen lines and dot the tops
with gold glaze.
(Sorry.....no photo of this.)
After the flower has dried overnight,
mix a small amount of Americolor Deep Pink
with a small amount of Americolor Bright White.
Paint randomly around the petals.
And there you have a pretty
cherry blossom flower cookie. :)

These are just incredible!! I'm a Washingtonian, and these do the cherry trees way beyond justice!
Great Tutorial Pam and your photos are super. I like the idea of mixing the branch cookie with larger flower cookie, they look beautiful.
I'm always in awe of the gorgeous cookies you create with glaze icing. These beautiful cherry blossoms are no exception. Great tutorial Pam. Very flattered to have been a part of this party with so many talented Cookiers such as yourself :)
Thank you for the tutorial. I love cherry blossoms. And thanks for showing us how to fix boo-boos!! haha
Beautiful Flowers, Pam! Love the hand painted details! xo

These are BEAUTIFUL! Cherry blossoms are the most beautiful and delicate flowers, and your cookies really show that. I love them!

so cute! Love the pretty pink colors! :) I'll be headed your way so soon!! ACK! :)
So pretty, Pam! The deeper pink blends so nicely I thought it was marbled, love that technique! Loved that you made the cherry blossoms on a circle cutter too - beautiful!
sigh... I LOVE cherry blossoms. These are beautiful! They are so delicate and romantic. Completely gorgeous! I couldn't help but snoop around and I saw some cookies in the background. What are you up to there? I see some perfectly piped words...
These are absolutely the prettiest cookies! I'd been dying to see these up close, and you did not disappoint one bit! The two pinks you made are spot-on, and your painting is so perfectly delicate. I'm just in awe, and that's without even pointing out the mastery of the glaze, which to me remains still so much an enigma. You are incredible, Pam!
These are so beautiful Pam! Baking, decorating AND painting! Gorgeous! I love the PINK cherry blossoms! Thanks for sharing your tutorial and beautiful cookies!
Pam, Can't wait for the cherry blossoms this year, I think yours should be hanged on a tree, they are just so beautiful, the fact that you do this with glaze! you have mastered it beyond my understanding, really. You've been adding so many details not only to these cookies but all of your cookies. Sorry for the mess up with the emails, I'm glad I caught it before it was too late.♥
There's just something about cherry blossoms that tugs at my heart. These are beautifully done through your cookie interpretation. Thanks so much for the tutorial on how to accomplish something so pretty from your personal inspiration.
