Royal Icing Vs Glaze?
There seems to be some misconceptions about glaze. I get so aggravated when people act like there is very little you can do with glaze. Hello people??? Look at the FABULOUS work of Knead A Cookie, Mad About Cookies,GeminiRJ , and I am Baker... all amazing glaze cookie decorators...... to name a few.
So my dear friend, Callye, (SweetSugarBelle) asked me to do a guest post on her blog showing how to do a detailed cookie with glaze. She's featuring me today on TheSweetAdventuresOfSugarBelle if you'd like to take a look.
I did a pictorial on doing a bouquet of flowers.
So now I can show you my pics of these cookies. hee hee
Oh.....and I wanted to show you the draw back of baking so many different kind of shapes in one batch of cookies. lol
Washing all of these cutters at one time is not so fun.
But then, the results were worth it. :)

Fantastic, just like always!
I am a glaze fan, but have recently started doing my final details with royal icing on top of the glaze. I get the best of both worlds--the great taste of glaze and the intricate detailing of the royal.
I'm new to this whole cooke craze...can you tell me where to get the cool square/rectangle with the scalloped edges? Thanks!
Hi there, LJ. Welcome to the CRAZIE world of cookies. :)
You can purchase the square scalloped cutters here:

I am starting to use glaze :) I love it! I am not as good as you yet but I will get there eventually ;)! Great cookies as always!
Beautiful cookies as always, Pam! I appreciate your showing the many, many cookie cutters - I definitely find that to be the case for me sometimes, too!
You have definitely mastered the glaze! :)
Pam,
When the glaze dries is it really hard like royal icing or is soft when you bite into it?
Thank you everyone. :)
It's not as hard as RI......but I wouldn't say it was soft when you bite into it.
The first day, it IS kind of soft.....but as each day passes and it gets drier and drier.....it also takes on a hardness.....but nothing like RI.
Beautiful Pam! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Pam, I have a tip on drying cookie cutters..
I wash the cutters right after my cookies come out of the oven, then shut the oven off. Arrange your cutters on a single layer on a sheet pan, then put them in the oven.
They dry off evenly, quickly and I don't have to get into all those corners..
Of course, be careful when you take them out! They're hot.
What a fantastic idea, Laura. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks so much for offering great advice. :)
