Along with flowers, snow, cookies, snowmen, and a few others.....I love birds. :) And you know by now, that when I love something, I will try to make it into a cookie. lol
Today I want to show you how I made some fun bluebirds. They are a little "wonky".....as my 17 year old daughter would say. :)
First I took some basic cutters to make all the parts. The wings are made from a pushed out dog bone cutter (courtesy of Sweet Sugar Belle and her brilliant ideas!). The beak is made from a small leaf cutter.
Push all the pieces together to come up with this:
Once baked.....you have to make the choice to either outline it in black or not. I did one of each.
I chose to do two different designs.....and hope that a few photos will show you what steps I took to decorate them.
I love the simplicity of the one on left....and the cute pattern of the one on the right.
And here's the final pic of those two cute birdies. :))))) Simple, yet sweet.
I hope your day is filled with sweet tweets. :)

Hi Pam!! you blog is SO INSPIRING!!! I have been making some cookies of my own, I´m a syrup glazing convert after reading you blog. I have been making cookies and have some trouble with them a few days after the dry, they start having little white dots, like the icing brakes, do hoy have any idea why that happens_??? The dry beautifully, but after 2 days or so are all dotty..... could you helpppp!!!! from paraguay, jazmin
YYou are sp creative, and that blue is beautiful!
I'm having to stockpile doggie bone cutters! I bent all mine up :-)
I'm going to get more too. I just made one of my last larger ones into a golf tee this morning. :) Thanks for sharing all your brilliance, my friend.
Sky blue.....i love it! :)
Apparently, all glaze users have the white dot problem along with discoloration. I wish I had solutions. I had thought it was due to a colder drying temp.....but someone told me it is not that. So I'm at a loss. It doesn't happen all the time for me.....just sometimes. I wish I could help.
I *love* these!!!
I love them. Such a cute design, Pam!
Adorable! Great job Pam. You and Callye and a few others are so good at utilizing your cutters in so many different ways. Thanks for sharing your beautiful bluebirds!
I love looking at all of your creative cookies. I just love them. I was wondering....When you roll out your dough to make cookies, how thick is your dough. Your baked coookies look thicker than mine, when I "try" to bake cookies. My cookies always turn light brown around the edges and then break easy after they have cooled down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
yes, it happened only once, paraguay is really hot, so colder drying is out, maybe the sugar___ well I will keep trying!!! love your cookies, love your blog!
Hi Amber. Check out my FAQ. All the info is there.
totally brilliant!
Pam, How did you do the pattern on the right? And yes, they are very TWEET!
If you're speaking of the plaid....it's just a matter of adding criss cross lines while the base icing is still wet. Thanks so much!
So stinking CUTE Pam!!! Great way to use the cutters to make a great little bird:)
Awww....thank you my dear Lisa. I've been praying for you today. I know things are a bit stressful right now. Big hugs to you!
