New Toy: Photo Tent

In January, I bought myself a new toy with Christmas money. I'd love to be able to master photographing my cookies. My homemade photo box that Kyle made me a few years ago was falling a part and he's been saying he'd make me a new one.....but it wasn't happening.

So I decided to splurge and buy one. It's a 30" cube.

I don't know how long it will last.....but for now it is wonderful. And it's nice and big so I can take shots of lots of cookies at once. I got it from Amazon HERE......but it says it is "currently unavailable". I only paid about $30 for it.....so I felt like that was a pretty good deal.

I still don't have the "perfect" lighting set up....but when I get things the way I want them.....I'll share about it here.

And of course.....a few Valentines cookies for the day. I'm not overly impressed with my envelopes.....but my creativity was shot after all the lace and "fancy" stuff I did. lol

And my red Valentine cookie jar......

I never get orders for these......but I sure love doing them and then giving them away. ;)

I'm baking up a ton of Valentines cookies today. Lots of decorating to do before Monday....

Pam, I love all the Valentine cookies you've been posting. Your talent amazes me. One day I hope to be a fraction as good as you. Maybe once I retire. Can't seem to find enough time to devote to cookies right now. Which brings me to the question, do you take mail orders and if so, how do I get in touch with the details. Thanks so much. Sissy

I love the envelopes! Simple is often the sweetest and most elegant.

Very cool about that photo tent...I've never even heard of that.

I don't think I've seen a photo tent like that before. I find that the more pictures I take of my sugary things....the better I want those pictures to look!

I love your white on white lace heart cookie. It's so striking!

This is the first time I've heard of a photo tent. I love looking at your beautiful cookies and am trying my hand at decorating cookies. I've got a long way to go before I am even half as good as you. Thank you very much for all your tips and advice. I can't wait to hear more about the "tent".

I think the envelopes are CUTE! So why does no one order the jars?? They sure look great.
Ohhhhhh, maybe I NEED one of those photo boxes. I have so much trouble taking pictures of any of my projects - cookies, cooking/baking,quilting, etc.

really pretty cookies! I have been debating ordering a tent for so long now, as I take 90% of my photos at night I think it will really help!

I actually love your envelopes! I love those cookies jars too.
Do you think you might do tips on using the photo tent and lights?
Love your work

A big thank you....to all of you who commented. :)

Danni....I am not a good one to ask about lighting and photography. But go to Hani's site (she is exceptional at the photography end) and catch her tutorial on photography.

You got a good deal on that photo box.  I purchased the entire package (2 size boxes, lights, etc.) for my bead making craze (I might get back into it but that's a whole other story!) but now that I am thinking about the cookie decorating route I know it won't go to waste!  I spent $300 on the entire set so I didn't want to let it go to waste or not get my money's worth!

BTW...I am enjoying your blog tremendously.  I am hoping to have my own after the first of the year.  Maybe I will document my life in cookies, as I am just beginning.  I started making homemade ice cream over the summer but now that it is so cold I needed a "warm" hobby.

Merry Christmas!
Susan
