Cookie Boxes, Boxes, Boxes

A couple of weeks ago, I order box samples from BRP Box Shop. You can order free samples and just pay the shipping. There were so many I wanted to see.....so I plunged in.

First of all, let me say that I will definitely be ordering from this wonderful company. They were fast, efficient, have reasonable prices, and their boxes are quality material. Plus, they have so much variety that if I get tired of one box, I can easily order another. And here's the clincher.....FREE SHIPPING! The last box company I used made me pay nearly 50% more in shipping.....so getting shipping free excites me!!!!

These boxes are so fun. The food safe ones mainly come in white, pink, and brown.....but there are many other colors too. It was hard to choose which five I wanted sent to me!! They come in every shape and size....with windows and without. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. :)))))

I finally settled on these:

Here's my conclusions.
** I won't order pink because even though I LOVE the color.....there's so many occasions where pink just won't work.....especially if there are windows where you can see the cookies.
Can you imagine muted fall colors against that pink?
** The 4" deep box is too deep for cookies. To fill it, you'd have to stack 4 or 5 deep....and that's just not wise for cookies.
** My two favorite sizes are the 14 x 14 x 1 1/2" (which I have now....it's basically a pizza box)
and the 14 x 10 x 2 1/2". Both would be perfect for cookie orders.
** And I love the idea of a window to show off the cookies. The first thing I do when someone comes to pick up cookies is to open the box to show them. With a window, there would be no need. You just make sure the best cookies are on top showing through the window. ;)

So I'm probably going to order the 14 x 14 with window or the 14 x 10 with window.
Hurray! I love finding exactly what I need/like. Being able to actually see the boxes and put cookies in them was a huge plus. Obviously I'm sold. :)

Thanks for the info on the boxes. Thats great.
Your valentine cookies are so beautiful. How come there aren't any cookie decorators that live near me? :( lol

Thanks so much for the heads up on the cookie boxes. I would love to find something that holds one dozen, single layer...it sounds like those 14 x 14 might work perfectly!

Darling Valentine's Day cookies too!

Oooh, pretty display boxes! That's such a great presentation idea, especially when the decorative plate and bags with ribbon ideas get stale.

Awesome tip on the box company, I'm going to go order my samples right now! You are amazing and your cookies are inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing.

Now I'm just starting to sound like a Pam groupie or something but I've got to say it again....THANK YOU! The boxes look amazing and I already ordered a couple dozen this morning to get started, and the Valentines cookies continue to be amazing. The color reds you're coming up with are so rich. Yesterday I experimented some with super red and adding either a touch or black or brown to them but I'm still not close to getting anywhere close to these shades. Still, I'm happy with my first round of efforts that are all the better because of these tutorials.

I was just last night looking through many, many box websites. It was overwhelming! Thank you for the tip of samples!! And free shipping! I think that makes BRP the best value! Thank you for sharing all your tips! I just do this as a hobby, but when I take cookies to a shower or something, it will be nice to have some way to "display" them. Thanks so much!

I've ordered from BRP too & love the quality of the boxes as well as the free shipping. They arrive within about 7 days..which is pretty good.

Since I bake for friends & family I thought what on earth will I do with 100 boxes (my first order) but in time I'm almost ready to order my 2nd set. they are a fraction of the cost of buying them at Michael's. I went on before Christmas, looking at inserts that hold 1/2 dozen cupcakes for gifts and was able to buy 10 inserts and 10 boxes which was perfect for holiday giving.

Definitely a GREAT box co.

I have been browsing BRP for awhile trying to even decide even which samples to order. Thanks for helping make it a bit easier. How many cookies does the 14 x 14 box hold?

Thanks to all of you.

I'm glad to share. :)

Stephanie....I know what you mean about buying 100 and thinking, "How will I ever use all of these?" I'm getting down to my last few pizza style boxes and that is why I started looking at this box company. I did not want to repeat the huge shipping costs I incurred last time! Thanks for reinforcing my recommendation. :)

Ashley.....a 14x14 holds a double stack of 12-15 cookies....depending upon their size. It is great because if you get an order for several dozen, you just use a box per approximately 2 dozen.

Hey Pam!
I would like to know how you made the designs on the top of your cookies. I hope that you will have time to do a tutorial, or, if you know of one, I would be delighted. I can't figure out how you did it!
Thanks!
Annette

I love BRP. We use their boxes for our cupcake shop and for our cookie collections.

Take a look at the picture of the "Love" cookie and the other four in the picture!!! They are simply: GORGEOUS!!! I look at the polka dots on the "L" and it looks like there is a glaze over the dark dots, a glaze, and then the black "stitch" lines and some white dots. The heart looks like there is a glaze over the design, kinda' fading the two white heart designs on it. Is this how it was done? How do you make the gel kind of "frosting"? Help!!! - Annette

Yeah.....if ADozenEggs use these boxes....then I am definitely sold. :) Thanks for your comment, Laura.

Annette...all of this done by wet on wet. Add base, add polka dots and stripes. Once dry, I add the stitches with food color markers.

There is no glaze "over" the design.....the glaze is the design.

I'm glad you discovered BRP! I found them last summer while I was looking for brown cake/cupcake boxes. I've received every order I placed with them in just a few days and their customer service is superb!! By the way, I love your work!

I'm happy to hear you liked your boxes from BRP, they are the only box company I use.

Personally, I think pink bakery boxes are too commonly used. I love (and use) BRP's brown boxes as I love good old fashioned kraft paper. Here's another company you might be interested in checking out:

A bakery box tied with a neat colored kitchen twine, how fun and memorable is that?!

Thanks for sharing your find Pam! I ordered 3 different sizes of boxes today (10 of each) to check them out and see what works best for me. Thanks for the suggestion and sharing! I love your cookies and all your blog posts!
