Goodbye 2010......Welcome 2011!

My final post of 2010..... It has been a very good year. So many wonderful things have happened in my family and in my cookie world. :)

This year drew a close to my homeschooling "career". I've been homeschooling my five children for 18 years! It has been quite a ride. But my youngest two graduated high school in May......and suddenly I had more free time than I was ever accustomed to. This has allowed me to experiment and "play" with my cookie decorating more than I had before. I'm excited about how to use this time for 2011.

For Cookies With a Mission.............I've made a few thousand cookies and raised over $3700 to go towards Ukraine missions in 2010. I had the privilege to take two mission trips to the country this year......and it was wonderful to be with the people and minister in a multitude of ways. I've had lots and lots of loyal supporters in this journey.....and if any of them are reading this, THANK YOU so much for your contribution to Ukraine missions and CWAM! It has been a joy and pleasure to make cookies for you and support a good cause.

As promised, here is my final set of favorite cookies in 2010.

Just looking at all these photos gets me excited about 2011.....and all the new cookies waiting to be made! Yep.....that's me......totally CRAZIE about cookies. lol

I have lots of ideas rolling through my head to make this blog more fun and informative.......so be ready for more give-aways, more guest posts, and maybe even some how-tos in 2011!

I'm super thankful to God for allowing me to have such a fun hobby that raises money for His purposes and brings joy to others. He is the reason that I do what I do.
I wish you all a very joy-filled new year with tons and tons of blessings. :)

2010 in Review (Part 2)

Today I'm going to start taking down the Christmas decorations in my house. Let me just say that it is a lot more fun to put them up than to take them down. I dread it.....but at the same time, I'm ready for my house to get back to normal.....and to get a thorough cleaning. Boy, I had forgotten how messy things get when all seven of us are here! :o)

To continue on with my cookie year in review.......

I tried a lot a of new ways to package cookies this year. First there was the white stationary boxes with the clear lids. These make such a nice presentation. However, I had a few problems. I bought 10" x 7" x 2" boxes....and it is hard to fill a 2" box underneath the cookie. I didn't want to waste the expensive shred......so I started putting tissue paper in the bottom half. My other issue was that I ordered from US Box and they charged me $35 for shipping (that was 1/3 of my order!). Needless to say, I'll never order from them again. : /

But the boxes work so well for special gifts like Mothers Day & Fathers Day.......

After the stationary boxes, I tried some all clear thinner boxes from ClearBags.com and I liked them very much. If your interested, here's a link to the larger size boxes I ordered The only drawback to these boxes are that you have to load the cookies and shred through the side of the box instead of on top. It's a little tricky.....but doable.

These flower boxes were gifts I gave to some of the ladies in Ukraine. :)

Platters are not a new presentation for most cookiers.....but for me, I'd never done them until this year.

And finally, my favorite of all ways to package......presenting mini cookies in a jar. Sadly, I've never gotten an order for these.....but then, I've have to charge a bunch since some jars hold a LOT of cookies....and there are some special challenges and expenses to putting them together.

I couldn't pick favorites.....so I'm showing you all the jars I've done. ;o)

And here's some more favorite cookies from 2010.

Lots of BOY baby cookies, lol.....

For my beloved Army boy......

And my biggest collection of "quilt cookies" yet.....
Stay tuned for one last installment of 2010 cookies in review tomorrow. :)

2010 in Review (Part 1)

Someone just gave me the idea to review my favorite cookies from this past year. How fun to go back over all the cookies I've done in 2010 and find my favorites. :)

I couldn't narrow it down to just a few photos (imagine that?)......so I'm going to review 2010 in three separate posts.

This has been the year for really finding my niche in cookie decorating. I remember finding some fun, unique things to add to my cookies in 2009........but I believe I really carved out the "CookieCrazie look" in 2010. Right from the beginning of the year, I started making unique shapes beyond just the cutters that all of us have. And I found a way to put plaid, patchwork, quilting, and stitches on just about every theme of cookies. lol

Here's my first installment of favorites.

Birthday cookies for my dear, dear friend back in January 2010.....

I remember I went cookie CRAZIE for Valentines Day. This is just one of MANY sets I did for that holiday. lol (That's become a trend for me this year.....)

Next was all my spring & Easter cookies......

I really branched out at Mother's and Father's Day this year too.

Summer was filled up with several different themes. I love how these nautical ones turned out.....

I did lots and lots of baby cookies this year too. This fall I FINALLY got a baby GIRL order. lol

Remember my turkey explosion this fall?!

OK.....that's it for memory lane today. Stayed tune for my next installment tomorrow. :)

Time to Think About 2011.....

Wow....after posting something on this blog nearly daily in December, it was weird to go 5 days without posting. Of course, during that time, I didn't really have time to post. Plus....I got a terrible stomach virus early Sunday morning that had me wanting to do nothing but sleep for nearly two days. :(

Christmas was awesome. All my kids were home.....we had some great time together. Of course there was lots of great food, presents, etc......but the best part was just being together. :) I'm so blessed.

As far as cookies go.....I've not done anymore since last Wednesday. I had high hopes of doing some new ones for Christmas Eve and some to take to work on Saturday, but it didn't happened. Too many other things begged for my attention. And now that the holiday is over.....I have ZERO desire to make more. I now realize how much I needed a break from decorating cookies.

This week will be filled with putting all the Christmas deco away and getting the house back to "normal".......so no cookies planned for at least a week or two.

But that means that I'll have nothing to post here on this blog. :( So sad......

I guess we'll call it my "time off" for the holidays.

Good news.....I have one last cookie photo to show you from last week's cookie order. My friend ordered New Years cookies along with her Christmas cookies.....and I wanted to save it to show you right before the NY holiday.

I wish you all a wonderful new year of 2011 filled with God's richest blessings.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas to All!

Well what do you know.....Christmas Day is nearly here. Such a busy time.....but always worth stopping and reflecting on how good God is to us. :)

I'm thinking this will be my last post before Christmas. I was wanting to have a pic to post each day this weekend.....and then I thought, "OK.....you are truly being CRAZIE now". Not only are we busy nearly every minute, if we are not busy, *I'M* busy in the kitchen or elsewhere getting things ready! Besides, it just occurred to me, that not many of you will be online this weekend, so what is the point? lol

Here's my final few pics of Christmas cookies. I have a few more cookies I could decorate "for fun" today, but I'm kind of burned out at the moment....so I don't know if that will happen.

I wish you a very very Merry Christmas from my house to yours. :) Thank you for being such loyal readers of my blog. You add a bunch of sunshine to my lives. I appreciate all the sweet comments you've shared with me. You are a HUGE BLESSING!

I'll be back next week.....a little older (ha......my half century birthday is fast approaching!) and hopefully re-energized and ready to make more cookie decorations.

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” -- which means “God with us”.
Matthew 1:21-23

Joy to the world, the LORD has come!

Christmas Party Cookies

Phewww......I did it......I got those 120 cookies done yesterday. There were even New Years cookies in that bunch. Hopefully I can get them photographed today and show you later this week.

Can I just say......I'm exhausted. I love Christmas.....but I've been pushing myself for days now and I think I need a vacation. lol Just kidding.....I'm loving it all. For some reason this week's orders were harder to do, I guess because I started tired after the busy weekend.

Now all that's left is catching up from all the things I've not done for a week because of the party and the orders.......and then trying to get prepared for Christmas weekend. But it is always fun to anticipate our family gatherings and fun events.....so I'm looking forward to it all.

I only got one photo of all the cookies I made for the Christmas party last Saturday.....but at least I have it.

It was fun to see this big pile of cookies disappear. There were a few left, but not too many. (You have to realize that we had LOTS of yummy food at the party, so I'm not surprised there were some left over.)

I must get busy. Only three days until Christmas. I just read that it is supposed to snow on Christmas Eve. Yippee! (ummmmm....except that I have to work on Christmas Day.....and I hope it is not too hard to get to work at 5:30 AM. It's bad enough that I have to work on Christmas Day.....but if it is hard to get there because of snow, that's not nice at all.)

A Little More Christmas

I'm still surrounded by cookies I need to decorate.....but I hope today that I'll get all of them done and can breathe a bit easier the rest of the week. Yesterday was one of those days where I had great intentions.....but my to-do list got longer instead of shorter. : /

Here's some more Christmas cookies I did last week..............

And a pic of the whole batch together......

It's lookin' a lot like Christmas, isn't it? Such a wonderful season. =)

Busy Weekend................

It was a fantastic weekend.....but boy am I tired.......but a good kind of tired. Keith & Neil arrived home safely.....we had our big party.....which was great.....and lots of fun simple times over the weekend.

Now it is time to get back to cookies. I have two orders to do.....and then I'll make cookies for family and co-workers at the end of the week. I'm working Christmas Day and already promised those I'm working with that I'm bringing cookies.

But then there a million and one other things to do this week too. And that clean house I had for the party......gone. It just disappeared in a matter of a few hours Saturday. ;)

I thought I'd show you the CRAZIE week I had last week when I did the 300 cookies for our ARK event at church (Acts of Random Kindness). Church members donate money to purchase the cookies from Cookies With a Mission, and then a team puts the cookies and a bunch of other goodies & info into bags to hand out at the intersection in front of our church. I doubt if most people will eat the cookies (would you eat something someone handed to you off the street?)......but it's the thought that counts.

Here's a close-up sampling of those 300 cookies.....

I also did some dog paws for a friend that wanted to give gifts to the folks that take care of her dog when she's away.

And finally, I thought I'd show you another Christmas set I did. I was inspired by a cute Christmas snowman ornament made from a real Christmas light bulb, These were fun!

Back to work. Hopefully I'll be able to drop in several times this week and show you more of what I've been up to.

Be sure to enjoy the season this week.....even in the flurry of things to do. It goes by so quickly.....so I'm determined to savor the moments.

Christmas Tree Lot :)

I told you that I had a bunch more Christmas trees to show you.

Here's my version of Callye's great methods of making your own personalized shapes. I pieced all these together......no single cutters.

My faves.....

And here's that Christmas tree lot I promised you.....

Well much has happened this week. I got my 336 cookies done for two orders. I started prepping for our party we're having tomorrow night......and we picked Keith up at the airport last night! Yippee......I couldn't be happier to have him home. :)

At the airport.....my oldest daughter, Jill........Keith......and my son, Kyle. :)

Happy Birthday Neil..........Plus Some Trees

My oldest son's birthday is today.

Happy Birthday Neil!

He is away at college still, so I sent him cookies in the mail. They weren't super fancy because I just didn't have time to design him some cookies meant specifically for him. (I had envisioned making him cookies related to his next semester in Johannesburg, South Africa.....but it just didn't happen.) For those of you following my blog for a while, Neil is the one who was in the bad accident when he went to Haiti in May for a mission trip. He is doing very well, by the way.

So this was the best I could come up with.....wanting him to know I was thinking about him on this special day that he was away from home.

And in keeping with my constant barrage of Christmas cookies.....I couldn't let a day pass without showing you another new cookie design. ;)

I made a ton of trees last week.....so I'll show you more of those soon.

My son, Keith, is coming home from the Army tonight! We are super excited....as he has been gone since July 8th. He did his basic training and Advanced Individualized Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.....and now he is coming home for Christmas. You can only imagine how happy this momma is. :)

Then Neil comes home from college on Saturday....and that evening we are having a big Christmas party here. What a wonderful weekend it is going to be!

I must get busy......but I'll try to post a few pics each day even though things will be CRAZIE around here...........

Cute Faces of Christmas.......Penguins too!

Here's more of my cute faces of Christmas collection. My daughter, Jill, has been asking for penguin cookies. She's crazie about penguins right now.....and I had kept showing her pics of other people's penguin cookies. I couldn't disappoint her. ;)

Her favorite is the one on the left. :)

And here's all the funny faces together.......

I finished the 300 cookies for an order yesterday.....so now I have some breathing room. I was holding my breath wondering if I could get them decorated in a day.....and I did it! We are having a Christmas party Saturday night.....so there are lots of things to do to prepare. Hopefully I'll get to decorate cookies for it too. ;)
