Christmas Greenery

My blog is very green today. :)

For some reason, I had it in my head that the bow on this wreath cutter went on the bottom.
Now I know bows go on top. :( Oh well.....I'll get it right next time.
I experimented with cutting out the center or not.....and really like the cut out one a lot more.

A cute little "appliqued plaid button tree. I love this little guy. :)

Another collection......

Believe it or not....I have a few more sets. Plus, I hope to make more this week. :)

Classic Christmas

I'm back on this chilly Thanksgiving Day to start showing you my Christmas cookies in more traditional colors.

I just wish all the disco dust showed up more.......but here you go.
Those stars are on the top of my cookie tree. :) They have gold luster dust and disco dust.....but you can't see it in the pic at all. : /
Have a terrific Thanksgiving Day!

With Gratefulness

We preempt the showing of the Christmas collection for this very important blog post.......

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of you. Many of you comment and send me emails......a circle of friends that I've never seen, but yet there is great fondness in my heart for all of you. What a blessing to have the internet to allow us all to connect in this way. And what fun it is to look at each other's photos and get a glimpse into each other's lives. :) I count it a privilege that you come to my blog and read my crazie posts......and return on a regular basis. Thank you!

And a multitude of thanks to God who blesses me beyond measure on a daily basis and has given me the ultimate gift of His son, Jesus, to pay the cost of adoption into His family. :))))))))

So here's some of those "gazillion" Thanksgiving cookies I did this week. :)

Another gobbling bunch here to say "Gobble, Gobble......Happy Thanksgiving!".....

And a group shot of my Thanksgiving variety......

I wish you and yours a very blessed holiday.

Now back to our regularly scheduled showing of the Christmas collection.............. ;)

More Christmas......Wait....It's Thanksgiving ;)

I'm back to show you more of my Christmas collection from last week. Yep.....in the middle of Thanksgiving week. I know, I know. I need to focus on Thanksgiving. Actually I'm in the middle of making a gazillon Thanksgiving cookies......but those pics will have to be later in the week.

And here is the whole white/pastel collection together....

Coming soon are my other Christmas cookies in more traditional colors.

Cookie Tree!

I baked and decorated up a storm the last few days......and finally have my cookie tree filled with cookies. So now I just need some guests.......hmmmm.....where could I find visitors who would like to have a cookie????

Here's my fun little tree. I think it is a little stressed right now because it has over 30 cookies on it. hee hee

And now I get to show you some of my Christmas cookie designs. Yippee!!!!

I made a yummy chocolate cookie with peppermint icing. Since I was using the dark background of the chocolate cookie......I decided to try something I've not done very much.....white on white, and white with very pale pastels. I like the results. :)

It has a really different look than the traditional colors (which is what I usually do), but oh, how fun to add all kinds of disco dust and sanding sugar and make them sparkle. I wish the photos showed you all the decoration.I'm so happy I tried these colors.

Lots more to come in the next several days.......

It's Lookin' Like Christmas :)

I've not decorated one cookie this week.......but I've accomplished my goal.
The house is now officially decorated for Christmas. :)

The main task was to put up my seven trees.....including our 12 ft tree in the great room.

Welcome to my home.......

From the front door.....you can see the snowman tree in the entry, the bare tree next to my quilt rack (I'll explain in a minute), then my little gingerbread tree.....and then our 12 foot tree. I love it!

Our giant tree holds all the ornaments from our 31 years of marriage and five children. We've accumulated lots of ornaments in that time.....and lots of terrific memories. :)

My favorite tree.......the snowman tree. I've been collecting snowmen for a long, long time. (I'll be 50 years old in December....and have been collecting snowmen most of those years.)
I LOVE snowmen and enjoy this tree so much. :)

My favorite color is purple.....so I started a purple tree a few years ago. It has been harder to find purple ornaments.....but some how I've managed to fill up the tree. ;)

Here is my smaller candy cane tree. This is not a very good pic.....but at least you can tell it has some candy canes on it. lol

Here's my much smaller gingerbread tree. In the smallest pic in the bottom left.....notice the bare tree to the left. That is my newest tree.....soon to be my COOKIE tree. I will be putting fresh wrapped cookies on it to offer to my guests when they come visit. (You are welcome to stop by. :))

And last....but certainly not least.....is my kitchen tree. Again.....another bad pic, but I think you can see it enough to know what it has on it.
I included a close-up of my newest kitchen tree ornament. :) I found the mixer at Hobby Lobby. It makes smile every time I see it. =)

So......now that I'm ready for Christmas, it is time to get into the kitchen and decorate cookies. I've got a batch waiting for me, but first I wanted to post these pics.

I hope to have some Christmas cookie pics for you this weekend. :))))))))))

Eastern Europe......Often On My Mind

As many of you know, I donate all the proceeds I make from my cookies to our church's Ukraine mission effort. This includes taking trips to the Ukraine on a regular basis. God has given me such a heart for Ukraine and its precious people.

Last March, I partnered with Future Leadership Foundation and we went to Ukraine to teach and love on the Baptist leaders of the country.....regional pastors and other staff. For me and my good friend Becky, it was ministering to the regional staff wives. What an amazing trip with far-reaching effects.

Future Leadership Foundation (FLF) is based here in Missouri. Their goal is to train leaders in Eastern Europe that have just found freedom in the last twenty years. This next week, they are hosting some folks from Lithuania It is located by the Baltic Sea....surrounded by Latvia, Belarus, Poland, and Russia. I was asked to make cookies representing Lithuania and FLF.

I made the shape of Lithuania and put the colors of their flag within it.

And then I did the FLF logo. Shew.....not an easy logo.

Believe it or not.....I have NO cookie orders this next week. I'm excited, because I hope to do all my Christmas decorating of our house. :) I'm anxious to start working on Christmas cookies too.....but I'll only do them later this week as a "reward" if I reach my home decorating goals.
I know....I'm kind of CRAZIE. lol

So here's my favorites of my turkey cookie experiment. You know me.....I want to add buttons and stitches to everything.I've just recently fell in love with "penny rugs"....so I thought I'd try out a penny rug turkey (the one on the bottom right). :)

And here's the gobbling gang all together. What fun!

Surely you are in a Thanksgiving mood now. I know I am. :)

Thankful as a Turkey.....

Yesterday, I experimented with 15 different turkey designs in hopes of finding a few that I really want to make for all the Thanksgiving celebrations. I'm not sure I accomplished my task.....but there sure were lots of gobblers in my kitchen yesterday. lol

First my least favorite......I always feel like I've got to show the flops along with the ones I'm happy with. I tried to make pumpkin pies and they were a disaster. I was ashamed to show most of them (we ate them...lol), but I saved one so you could see my attempt. Ugh. The colors weren't right and every one thought I was making dull sunflowers. :(
As far as these turkeys go......the heart shapes behind the head weren't the best idea, and my son says that those with the blue color look like NBC peacocks. :((((((

I thought it would be fun to make turkeys the way every child has done it with their hand print.

And here's a repeat design from last year.

And the last two for today.....using leaves for feathers. Silly....but kind of cute. =)

Tomorrow I'll show you my faves. Gobble gobble......

And the big finale.................an autumn quilt of cookies. :)

I have set a goal to try to get some Christmas decorations up this week......but I've also got some cookie time scheduled as well. Maybe I'll have more to share with you by the end of the week.

Favorite Cookies :)

One of my favorite cookies to do is quilts/patchwork/applique-looking cookies. I had an order for autumn quilts.....so I REALLY enjoyed my decorating session yesterday. (Not that I don't enjoy ALL of them, but this one is special.)

I did 33 cookies and not one of them is the same. There's lots to show you.

First I tried a couple of new things with my plaid design......so here's my new and improved plaid. :)

My typical "quarter" quilts.....

 Some random designs....

And some "appliqued" leaves....

I'll share much more in the next couple of days.
Have a lovely evening....gaining one wonderful hour to use however you wish.
I LOVE falling back! :)

More Guessing......Couldn't wait!

It occurred to me after I posted this morning that you might think I came up with the clever "minimalist" form of SW characters. I was going to wait until tomorrow to reveal my inspiration, but I decided rather than have anyone think I did this on my own, I would just go ahead and post the rest of the pics and share my source of inspiration.

My son, Kyle, wanted me to make these SW character cookies for a friend. First we were talking about making the actual characters.....but I didn't feel comfortable with that.... both because of copyright and because they are so complex. Kyle showed me these pics on Flickr of Sam Sterling-Sutton's awesome "minimalist" versions. You can find Sam's Flickr pics here and his Etsy posters here. I asked Sam for permission to use his idea, and he graciously agreed to it.

Here's additional characters......

and the whole crew together....

I was amazed at how many of you knew the characters right off the bat. That is great.....because it means they are recognizable. :)

I get to make some autumn quilts later this week.....so be looking for them this weekend.
