Happy 18th Birthday Keith!

Today my son, Keith, turns 18. He is my wild child who loves loud music, fast cars, and doing things his way. I wanted to do something special for his birthday. His favorite car is the Toyota Supra. It was only made for a few years back in the nineties. I doubt he'll ever own one......but at least his mom made him a cookie that sort of looks like one. =)

I pulled up a photo of a 1998 Supra and tried my hardest. It's a bit rough in many places, but it brought a huge smile from Keith.....and that's what counts. :)

And his other cookies.....

P.S. I forgot to mention that when I took the cookies out of the freezer Tuesday, the car was broken in half. I was heart sick because I'd only made one. I decided to try to "glue" it together with a small amount of icing both sides of the break. Sure enough, it "glued" together. So don't lose hope if a beloved cookie breaks. :)

Tomorrow's another Valentines cookie day........believe it or not, I still have several ideas I want to try. :)

Keep it posting! I check you site ten times a day just see what new cookies you have.. Your talent just amazes me. I want to come and sit in your kitchen for a couple of days and watch (and I'll wash dishes for you to).. My sweet adorable hubby washes the dishes for me when I'm decorating cakes.. Isn't he just wonderful!

Thanks Lis and Leelee. :-) You're both so sweet.

Lis......ten times a day. Wow! Considering I only post about every 2-3 days at the most.....maybe you could cut that down a little. lol The fact that you want to see the latest so bad is such a nice compliment.

You can come by anytime I'm doing cookies and watch. And if you're willing to do dishes.....you can come every day. =)

So cute!! You must have gasped when the cookie broke and you only had ONE! So do you keep dough on hand so you can just bake a few for the birthday person??
Question - is making WHITE icing with a gel paste necessary? Why not just use it as is?? Just curious.

They are just adorable, my 10 year old son would be just as ecstatic as your son was.

I love coming to your blog and finding new goodies lol.

I've also sorted the problem, I have roboform autofiller and I thought it had just copied my email and password, but it didn't, for some reason it copied everything I originally wrote. DUH! Don't I feel a dufus!

Thanks ladies.

CJ....I usually make the birthday cookies when I'm doing a whole batch. In this case, I did the birthday cookies as I was doing Valentines cookies. I've never kept dough in the refrig/freezer....but I've heard that others do. I like to make mine up fresh.

Americolor Bright White coloring makes a huge difference. First of all, it makes your white icing opaque and uniform. Leaving it just the way it is gives a translucency to it that becomes undesirable once you see what Bright White does. Also (and probably even more importantly), adding the white drops to the whole batch of icing keeps colors from bleeding.....in particular red. I had trouble with bleeding at Christmas and started using white drops in the whole batch, and haven't had problems since.

I'm glad you found the problem, Alli. Don't feel bad.....we all do things like that. ;-)
