Here Come the Turkeys.....Happy Thanksgiving!

It is really hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just one week from today. Oh my! Two ladies at church last night had on Christmas shirts. Oh my again! Things are just coming way too fast.

They say that the older you get, the faster time seems to move. I'm inclined to agree wholeheartedly.

I made some Thanksgiving cookies again this week. I've added some new ones in the mix....and boy, were they fun.

I had one major flop......a very elaborate turkey that I attempted. After doing some of the outlining, I thought, "What was I thinking? Crazie.....oh yes.....that's me!" I opted to glob a bunch of icing on those three cookies and feed them to my cookie-starved family. = )

I couldn't resist having some fun photographing my much repeated fall cookies. It seems a shame to make so many of them, tweak them time and again, and not include them in the photo shoot. ;-) If you are totally tired of candy corn, quilted pumpkins, and pie slices......hide your eyes through the next few pics.

I had fun making these pilgrim hats. It was nice to add a fairly easy cookie to my collection.....plus the black really photographs well with the other Thanksgiving cookies.

My collection wouldn't be complete without sending the true message of Thanksgiving. "Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men." Psalm 107:8 (I would love to be able to put that on a cookie.......but I don't think so. You know how much I love to write on a cookie. NOT! lol)

Here come the turkeys!

They are so photogenic. :-)

I love these colorful guys!

Here's an assortment of all of them. Fun, fun!

I'll be helping a friend decorate Christmas cookies first of next week so she can send them to some of our soldiers in Iraq. Then I have to whip up a quick batch of Thanksgiving cookies for my extended family as we go visit them for the holiday.

I doubt I'll be posting any more pics by next Thursday, so I wanted to send big HAPPY THANKSGIVING wishes to all of you! May you reflect on where you are in the season of life and recognize all the wonderful blessings of God......

adorable as usual, i do that also, make so many of the same cookie and don't take pictures, even though they are slightly different.
I love to see all the pictures!

I love your cookies!! I've been stalking your blog for a while now, but still don't understand the layering. Meaning do you outline first? How do you decide which colors to do first? Can you show a step by step photo of how you build the cookie??
Thanks!!

Thanks Bea. That's a great thought.....to give thanks every day. :-)

Thanks cookies & cups. I appreciate your thoughts on "duplicate" cookies. :-)

Thanks to my cookie "stalker". ;-) I consider it a high compliment when someone is asking how I do something.

In some ways it is hard to give a detailed step by step instruction of my decorating, plus I don't know that I want to reveal ALL my secrets. lol But I will tell you that I outline, then flood, and then add my details (dots, plaid stripes, etc) while the base is still wet.

What a great idea to take step by step pics of the process. I'll think about that one. :-)
