Lemonade with that Photo Shoot?

Ok, ok.....I know I ended up with a strange combination for my last two pics of last week's cookies, but here they are.

These lemonade glasses are certainly not my best effort.....but they will do for now.

My sister ordered these for her husband ( my bro-in-law) for Father's Day. He is a professional photographer, so I tried to make his Nikon D300. Since I won't do copyrighted stuff, I wouldn't put the name on the top....I just put a squiggly white line. Seemed like an OK compromise. My family was itching to eat one of these because they are so thick.....and CHOCOLATE. But I sold my extra one yesterday, and a dozen of these are going in the mail to my sister today. Maybe next time. ;-)

OK.....so that's all the pics I have from last week. My daughter is home from Nashville (she just returned from a two month mission trip to Brazil) for the week....yippee!.....and she is anxious to do sugar cookies with me today. She hasn't seen all my new techniques and tools in this last year's massive improvement in how I do them, so she is anxious to learn. I have three orders of cookies, but most are things I've done before. however, I do have three new cookies I'm trying today....so we shall see if they are something I can share with you tomorrow or the next day. ;-)

Happy Monday to all.

Thanks Bea. I never tasted these particular cookies.....but I'm sure they will be chocolate-y good. :-)

I just love peeking in on your blog! I am a cake/cookie decorator too. However, you have brought cookie decorating to a whole new level. I also am a shutterbug. Those camera cookies are just precious and amazing in their detail. Question: Do you make your own cutters, or buy them? Where on earth did you find the cookie cutter for camera? Also, the sand dollar is darling. I think I am going to do those with may big flower cutter. Just so cute...all of your work. Enjoy your daughter's return. Did she learn Portugese?

Awwww Kris, you're the best! I wish I could send you a camera cookie.....but I don't have anymore. ;-) I'm hopin' my BIL will love them.

I've learned the wonderful world of making templates (I use plastic sheets I buy from Michaels that I cut out the shapes)and hand cut a lot of my cookies. The cameras and sand dollars were hand cut.

No, Jill only learned enough Portuguese to get by. They used translators a lot.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Hi Pam, I love love your camara cookies. Can you please give me the recipe for your chocolate cookies and the chocolate icing, it looks so yummy. I would love to try something new.

Michele

Thanks Michele. The icing is not chocolate.....just colored black. The cookies are my same cookie recipe with 1/2 cup cocoa substituted for 1/2 cup of the flour. Have fun!

was hoping you wouldn't mind..I should have asked you first, but I wanted to give you a sweet surprise. Those were the cookies that we went crazie over!!!!!! I just love them, and what you do, and I am so very excited for you and proud of you. I don't know what I am going to do during your trip and time off. I think I shall be lonely! Anyway, I have some cookies to work on. TTYS!

Alright, you've done it now...those cameras are AMAZING! My DH sells cameras for a living, and I'm going to have to attempt these beauties for him to take to work! I'm ok with making templates, but the question I have is how thick did you roll the dough before you cut out the "lens" with the circle cutter? Maybe it's just the angle of the pic, but they look thicker than the body of the camera. Also wondering how wide the camera body is across. Thanks you SO much for showing us these cookies...they will go "cookie crazie" for them at hubby's work. :-)

Have a wonderful time with your daughter..glad she's home. I know the joy of daughters, I have three!

Thanks jlj014. I'm glad you like them so much that you want to try them.

The circle lens in the middle is the same thickness as the cookie....3/8". It just looks thicker.

The camera was about 4" across.

Oh yes, we are having a blast with Jill home. :-)

Be sure to take a pic so I can see your cameras......

I really cannot show these to my hubby! He loves photography, and is a Nikon guy! His birthday is next week, I may have to try ONE for the big day!

I haven't gotten to use my new cutters yet. I did a wedding cake for friends' son last week. I am going to try a topsy turvy cake next week- bottom layer for 3 birthdays, middle for Father's Day (2 dads and a dad to be!), top layer for going away for my daughter going to Mexico for school for 5 weeks! It'll be wild!
