Things Girls Love......for Mother's Day

OK......so my last post was all the random things I did for Mother's Day week......but this post is much more fun. I made lots of "girly" things for Mother's Day knowing how much us girls love clothes and makeup. :-)))))) I had a blast doing all these cookies.

Lipstick and nail polish.......

Shoes............I would never wear shoes like this (I have problematic feet that need comfy shoes at all times) but these sure are fun to look at.

Purses :-)

Hats......I think these ended up being my favorite with the purses coming in at a close second.

And dresses......sadly the blacks and dark reds didn't show up good in these photos.

Then I had fun and paired up the color coordinated pieces and photographed them together. :-)

This black, white, and red set is my favorite. I love the white hat with black polka dots!

And finally a photo of everything in one shot.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there. :-))))))))

Hi Pam! Love your blog. I'm so envious of your talent. Do you "paint" your cookies or pipe them? Also, how do you get your colors so bright? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks Lauren. They are so fun to decorate! I had such fun coordinating them and finding matching ribbons. :-)

Bea....I appreciate your kindness. Yes, DO try the black outlining....it has really expanded my ability to decorate and I LOVE the look! I'm glad to share photos with you. (I know how much I love seeing others photos!)

Thanks Sissy. I'm so glad you enjoy the cookies. I pipe all my icings. The colors are bright because of Americolor gel drops. You've gotta try them. You will love them! I've included links to my favorite online stores on the side border.

Thanks Claudia. I'm partial to the polka dots too. :-)

Hi Pam. Thanks for the info. I've heard several people recommend the Americolor gel drops. I'm going to have to try them for sure.

Did you take classes to learn your decorating techniques? I'm just getting into cookie decorating and everything I know is trial and error and reading what others post.

Hi Sissy,

Americolor colors opened up a whole new world to me when I started using them last year.....especially their black and red. Gotta try 'em! :-)

No, I have not taken any decorating classes. God has just blessed me with something that I can't really explain. And when you love to do something, you do it again and again and again and again (lol) and get better and better at it.

I've done a lot of trial and error and reading from others too.....so keep it up and your skills will improve. :-)

just because tomorrow I have a free afternoon and I'm thinking to give another try I would ask you if the icing could be kept and where: fridge, freezer, cupboard?
how long? few days, a week, more?
because I prepare not so many cookies at time and preparing tiny portion of icing is quite a matter especially if I have to use it with pipe.

The icing can be saved.....at room temperature. But only for a day or two. Usually it will start getting a little too thick. I've never used it past two days.

You could try making half a recipe since you don't use much.

Happy decorating!
